Volunteer Opportunities
If you're looking for volunteer inspiration, here are some good opportunities to check out!
Zooniverse (virtual opportunity!):
Do you want to be able to stay engaged with current research from home? If so, volunteering through Zooniverse could be a good opportunity for you. Zooniverse allows you to be able to take part in a variety of projects from biology to physics to even medicine. There are a plenty of fascinating projects you can take part in, and we encourage you all to check it out to see if there's a project that would be a good fit for you. The Seattle Aquarium:
Do you love biology, the ocean, and educating others? If so, volunteering at the Seattle Aquarium might be for you. There are two options to volunteer at the Seattle Aquarium, you can either be a school-year volunteer, or a summer volunteer. During the school year, it is required that you participate in 3 activities per month, and as a summer volunteer, in 20 activities during the duration of the summer. You do have to go through an application process to become a volunteer at the Seattle Aquarium. Everyone in high school (grades 9-12) is eligible to be a Seattle Aquarium Youth Ocean Advocate. Pacific Science Center:
Do you love all things science? If so, volunteering at the Pacific Science Center might be the perfect volunteer activity for you. Applications/Opportunities open and close throughout the year, so check back if there aren't any availabilities when you check. Everyone in high school is eligible to volunteer at the Pacific Science Center. Check the website linked in the name above to learn more.
Swedish Hospital:
Are you interested in exploring medicine and working in a hospital? If so, volunteering at Swedish Hospital might be a good experience to have. Everyone in high school (14+) is able to volunteer in some capacity, with other opportunities being limited for older teenage volunteers. Applications are listed at the link above.
